Two postdoc positions - biogeography / modelling, remote sensing, Karlsruhe, Germany


The KIT Institute of Geography and Geoecology invites applications for two postdoctoral positions (TV-L E 13, 100 %) – biogeography / modelling, remote sensing

The positions can start by March and April 2013, or later that year. The appointments are for three years, with the possibility of renewal. The candidates will be part of a newly forming working group for physical geography and geoecology.

The successful candidates will conduct independent research in one of the following fields:

(1) macroecology or modeling of vegetation patterns on landscape scales or biodiversity informatics

(2) remote sensing of vegetation with a focus on ecological research questions.

The candidates are expected to attract funding through competitive research grants, to contribute to teaching (four teaching hours per week) and to mentor graduate students.

Competitive applicants will hold a diploma / M.Sc. and Ph.D. in a relevant subject and are actively involved in research in the mentioned (or closely related) fields. A publication and teaching record are a plus.
